/  Italian traditions   /  Why your wedding in Italy deserves jewelry with a soul.

I am very selective about who I bring into my couples’ world. Every partner I recommend carries the same weight as a promise I make personally. So when I tell you I have found the right jewelry partner for VB Wedding Studio, I want you to understand what that means and why it took me this long.

Her name is Emanuela. She is the creative force behind “Margherita Burgener”, an independent haute jewellery house based in Valenza, the historic capital of Italian fine jewelry. Every piece that leaves her workshop is designed from sketches, made entirely by hand, and signed with the name of her eldest daughter (Margherita).

How we found each other

The same mountains, a different path to the same instinct.

I grew up in Milan, but the Alpine valleys near the Swiss border were my other home. I spent summers and winters there as a child, surrounded by the quiet of high mountains and the kind of light that settles over snow and stone in late afternoon. Emanuela was born in those same valleys. She grew up there before finding her way to Valenza, where she entered the world of precious stones and goldsmithing through the Damiani group, then joined her husband’s workshop, founded in 1966 by her father in law.

We arrived at the same values through different roads. A deep respect for craft, for materials, for the story behind the object. When I first visited her atelier, I recognized something I had been looking for: a maker who treats every commission as a conversation, who listens before she sketches.

Why Margherita Burgener

Auction-level artistry, one couple at a time.

Margherita Burgener is an entirely bespoke house. Every piece is conceived for the person who will wear it, designed by Emanuela, and handcrafted in her family workshop by master goldsmiths whose techniques trace back generations.

The work speaks at the highest international level. Margherita Burgener creations have been featured at Sotheby’s, Christie’s, Phillips, and Bonhams. Emanuela received the Premio Sant’Eligio in 2018, one of the most respected recognitions in Italian Valenza goldsmithing, and her atelier holds the Well Made certification from Fondazione Cologni, which

honors international artisan heritage. Her pieces have been exhibited at the Museo del Gioiello in Vicenza and the Triennale di Milano and currently displayed at Palazzo Morando in Milan at the Fashion and Costume museum, for the The Gentleman – Men’s Style and Jewelry exhibition.

What sets Emanuela apart is her mastery of titanium, a material rarely used in haute jewelry. In her hands, titanium becomes weightless color, shifting tones of blue, rose, violet, green, all combined with diamonds and natural gemstones of extraordinary quality. This willingness to push materials beyond convention, while honoring the discipline of classical goldsmithing, is exactly why I chose her.

What this means for my couples

Jewelry that belongs inside your wedding story.

When you plan a wedding in Italy with me, every detail becomes part of a single, coherent narrative. The venue, the flowers, the light on the water at dinner, the music.

Jewelry belongs to that story. It is personal, intimate, and permanent. A ring you will wear every day for the rest of your life should carry the same intentionality as the vows you write.

Through this partnership, my couples have direct access to Emanuela’s atelier for a selection of historic models and fully bespoke commissions across every category that matters on a wedding day and beyond:

Engagement rings. A one-of-a-kind ring designed around the stone and the story of your proposal. Emanuela sources exceptional gemstones and works with you to create something that exists nowhere else.

Wedding bands. Handcrafted bands in gold, platinum, or Emanuela’s signature titanium, designed as a pair or individually, with engraving, stone settings, or textures that reflect who you are together.

Gifts for mothers and bridesmaids. Meaningful pieces commissioned specifically for the women who matter most. A pendant, a pair of earrings, a brooch. Something designed with the recipient in mind, with the care that only a handmade Italian jewel can carry.

Pieces for the groom and groomsmen. Bespoke cufflinks, tie pins, or accessories crafted in Emanuela’s atelier. Refined, understated, made to last.

The experience

From the first sketch to the finished jewel.

Here is how it works. I introduce you to Emanuela personally. You share your vision, your preferences, the stones or metals that speak to you. She sketches, proposes, refines. You see the design evolve. The piece is crafted by hand in Valenza, with the same precision and care that has defined Italian goldsmithing for centuries. If your timeline allows, you can visit the atelier during your wedding trip and see where your jewel was born.

Commissioning a piece from Emanuela means being part of the process. You are there when the idea takes shape. You understand the choices, the stones, the metals. And when you hold the finished jewel, you know every decision behind it. That intimacy is what makes it yours, either designing your piece of jewelry or customizing it by engraving our initials or dates or words that represents you and your story.

A partnership built on shared values

Two women, one commitment to extraordinary craft.

Emanuela and I believe in the same things: that the best work comes from listening first, that quality is never negotiable, that Italian artisanship at its highest level is a living tradition worth protecting. She works with her hands. I work with mine. Together, we offer my couples something rare: a jewel made in Italy by one of its finest artisans, guided by someone who understands both worlds.

I chose one jewelry partner. One. Because that is how seriously I take what you wear on the most important day of your life.
